This is a fabulous pair of ski pants made in France by V de V Paris. V de V was founded during the early 1960s by Michele Rosier and stands for “Vetements de Vacance” (Vacation Clothing).  Rosier was an ardent skier and was an early adopter of vinyl and stretch fabrics, credited with introducing vinyl to renowned Parisian designer André Courreges.  She also designed for White Stag, and she is credited with the streamlined look in skiwear, which prior had been rather bulky looking.  One of her ski suits was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1967.  V de V was sold to Sergio Tacchini in 1988.

This pair of ski pants is highly structured and has the “space-age” look that fashion colleague André Courreges was known for.  I would date this pair to the 1970s.  It has wide stirrups, expandable elasticized bands at the back top and top sides and a nylon zipper front.

The labels read “V de V Paris / 97% Nylon 3 % Elastane / Fabrique en France”.

The size on the label is US 12. Please note that vintage sizing may not be the same as it is today, so please rely on the following measurements for sizing, while keeping the stretch of the fabric in mind:

Waist - 27” unstretched, can stretch out to 30”

Hips - 36"

Length from the waist – 42” to the bottom of the stirrup

Inner leg (inseam) – 31” to the bottom of the stirrup

Condition: These are in very good condition with no wear except for one pull at the lower right back leg and a little bit of “piling” at the foot, probably easily removed.  Otherwise, they look to have seen little use and were well stored over the years.
